:D  Happy Easter One & All!!!

03/262005
03.26.05 (9:22 am)   [edit]

 I can't believe it's almost the end of March ALREADY!! It was just the start of March just a week ago .... so it seems/feels. Good God! Where's this year going to so quickly?

But then again, it brings me closer to my moving date. I'll be out of FL by the end of May at the latest. Thank God! I can't stand it down here. I want to be back north; what I call home.

Been doing a hell of a lot of coding lately. About all I've been doing since I can't seem to get into the program for my data entry. I wish that would work tho. But, speaking of them anyway, I haven't recieved my check for them from last month. Makes me wonder about wanting to work for them if they're going to be not sending out my paychecks. Payday was the 15th.

Now granted .... they're in Maryland. I'm in FL & north to south mail goes slower than east to west. Kinda stupid but that's the way it works. :? I just hope it gets here. I like the job itself. I wouldn't want to HAVE to let that job go, but, if they're not going to send me my pay, then, I'll have to do the same as I did with DLS .... tell them to stuff their position!

They didn't pay. I always had to jump up & down to do that. Was really old too. I shouldn't have to do that.

UGH! I need some a/c on. It's way too humid. That's one of the things I do NOT like about here...the other just being plain ol' too hot. The people .... I can't say I've seen a grouping of people in one area that was so stupid & ignorant in my life.

Anyway, enough about the assholes here! I KNOW E-Idetic pays & on time. I love it. So coding most of the time is my thing now. Even some for ONSS. Oh! Speaking of coding ....

I'm no longer at Apex. I left. Too much other stuff to do that I can't take on any work they've got. It almost always gets released during the late evening overnite. I'm busy with either coding @ E (E-Idetic) or getting some d/e done (when I can do it that is). They (Apex) also has a minimum requirement of 800 docs per pay period.

I haven't been able to do that; mostly b/c they release it so late. Rarely has there been work during the hours I'm up & able to do it. So I said good bye. There's several others who think it's just a matter of time before they hear "Thank you for your efforts/work. Good luck in your future endeavors." b/c (b/c = because) they haven't been able to do the 800 docs in a pay period.

Until the last week or two here, there hasn't been any work out or it's been stuff I wouldn't touch no matter how long the infamous pole is. Way too much crap to pick up;way too complicated .... a total mess. Stuff like I wouldn't touch on ONSS but worse than theirs. How much worse could it get? TONS!! LOL

Of course, for that project, they pay more per doc AND add a per page price to it, but, get this. It's ONLY after the first X # of documents (less than 4 docs) before the per doc price kicks in. That's not fair. At least ONSS pays the per page price their worst from the first doc; not after the first 3 documents!! Come on! Give me a break!! I've got to code the crap! Well I DID! I don't anymore since I don't work for them any more anyway. I didn't while I was still there.

Granted! I'm not fond of ONSS & some of their crap & b.s., but, at least I can do the work when I want to (if it's out), not because I have to in order to get the minimum doc limit per pay period.

Oh well! I enjoyed it while I was there. The plus side was that they wanted to be invoiced for what you did during the pay period & actually paid the whole invoice .... providing you actually did the batches & not claiming batches you didn't do. (I don't know if anyone ever did that @ Apex or not, but, I've seen that @ DLS .... a company I'm still amazed is in business.) I kinda figured DLS would go the way of FastTrack .... go out of business.

FastTrack was another coding company; one that everyone wanted to get with b/c they had lots of work. Turns out that one day they up & just closed their doors. Locked out all the users from iPro & their work. Didn't say anything to anyone for a few months, then, sent everyone notice that they went belly up. Folks were owed $$ to the tune of more than $200 with quite a few being owed in excess of $500. The majority were owed over $1000 and closer to $2000 perhaps a bit more. Folks were NOT happy!

I can't say as I blame them. Made me glad that I was rejected when I applied. They told me they didn't have any positions open right after one of their hirings. Turns out, about 3 - 5 months later, they went out of business. Last I heard, they finally contacted the folks who worked for them so they could get their $$ (money) that was owed them. This was like 6 - 8 months after FastTrack Litigation went out of business.

Too bad too cuz they had lots of work. Apparently folks weren't unhappy with them either .... at least until they found out so abruptly that FastTrack Litigation was out of business leaving them wondering if they'd get the $$ owed. I'm guessing that, by now, after being contacted to make their claims for monetary purposes, that everyone got their money. Perhaps all of it; perhaps some or most of it. I haven't asked around.

It's been a sensitive subject on the wahm boards. Also, it's been just long enough now that some of the old wounds have been healed. I don't want to disturb that necessarily. Ya know!?!?!?!? I know I'd be upset too! I know I was when I was finding that I had to jump up & down over my pay @ DLS.

Then to top it off, the first time was fine as far as getting my first pay check (direct deposited). However, here's the kicker.  The next two pay periods -- NOTHING! I even got ignored when I asked. At least I wasn't the only one who was going thru this and some other issues with them. :?

That was just over a year ago. Rusty got on with them. Did coding & SOME qc'ing, but hasn't heard from them since the 17th of Feb other than a reply to a recent email about making the ic's into employees instead of ic's. Some were staying; others weren't. They were still figuring out how to go about this & who all was getting the email invite to become an employee as of sometime in the last two weeks. So, Rusty doesn't even know if he's going to be with them for much longer.

Quite frankly he doesn't care cuz he isn't at all fond of Stefanie let along the massive emails to explain explanations on how they want stuff done. It only ends up confusing folks cuz none of the emails are the same as what the first ones were. They were always confusing. Their documentation wasn't any better. Take the doc typing FIN. One team lead (something they didn't have when I was there) said FIN was Federal ID Number. WRONG! FIN is Financial. FIN as Federal ID Number doesn't exist. Now EIN (Employer ID Number) DOES exist but isn't a doc type. Dumb asses!!

Unfortunately, some of those same idiots who work there also work for ONSS & cost ONSS several jobs. Ironically, some of them came from none other than LOL E-Idetic who was farming the work out to other coding companies. ROFLOL It's funny how I end up with E & then find out they've been farming out the work to other coding companies I'm with or have been with.

DLS was one of the places that got it. However, they couldn't figure their ass from a hole in the ground. So, it's no wonder they lost stuff. Then DLS farmed out work to LD Coding who royally fucked things up. Cost DLS the project. That's how the whole employee vs ic thing came about recently @ DLS. Back in February, a couple of the ladies who hang out @ the wahm board started their own coding company through getting their own ic's & doing the work recieved from DLS.

That is until DLS lost the contract for the job b/c the coders @ LD Coding fucked up the project too badly. **sigh** Makes me NOT want to hire folks off of there except like maybe 5 @ most. Rusty, Donna, Vivian and one other I can think of off hand are the only ones I'd hire. However, I KNOW the quality of work they put out. So I wouldn't have a problem with hiring them cuz I know they can do a good to excellent job.

Most of the others? Sorry, Charlie! You ain't good enough!

Anywhoo I'm going off to do my exercising & get back to doing more coding. I shall check you later. Toodloo

03.12.05 (5:01 pm)   [edit]

Today would have been my dad's 83rd b-day. Happy B-Day!! :D

Gawd! Coding! Coding! Coding!! Now unitizing! LOL  At least it's work .... paying work that is! I don't mind volunteering mind you! Coding is NOT one of the things I'd do as a volunteer tho.

It's one of those days today where, not that anything's wrong .... I just wish I could be closer to moving out of FL. I don't like it here at all. I know it'll come sooner than later too (my move). :D Can't wait! I'm really looking forward to getting out of here.

Looking at NJ or RI/CT areas. Maybe rent a house first while looking into actually buying something. I'd rather own what I'm living in except for a condo. I won't buy an apt.! Forget that! About the only  way I'd do that is as an investment &, even then, it's a lot of hassles as far as assn fees and who has to pay for what when it's something like a pipe leak between apts. I live in apts to NOT have to deal with that stuff .... used to anyway.

Anyhoo! All's going pretty good. Feeling TONS & TONS better! Finally over that nasty stomach flu. That stuff was worse than absolutely miserable .

I just thought I'd stop by & post so there was something new to read. Not that anyone's really reading it! LOL   I know there's some traffic to this blog, but, at the moment, there isn't a whole lot. Also, kinda boring really! Haven't had much time to do much lately b/c I've been working so much and/or sick.

Fortunately, that's behind me & I'm now looking into the future. It's looking bright with what I've got. One of the coding companies is the only thing that's kinda iffy in one respect. There hasn't been a whooooooooole lot of work from them, even tho it looked like there would be a pick up in work level there for a while. However, that pretty much went by the wayside. The other I do pretty much to keep the id active and make some pocket change.

The data entry position and this newest coding company are my biggest ones at the moment; the coding company more than the other one. Looks like it'll be something like this (work wise):

1) Newest coding company (And coding company #4 that does a remote coder program that I have or still work at).

2) Data entry company

3) Second coding company I signed up for. (This is the one I made the remark about keeping the id active and making pocket change earlier.)

4) Third coding company I signed up for. (This is the one that I make the remark about looking like it was really going to pick up work wise then fizzled.)

NO! No phone jobs. The last phone job I had was the very short time I worked at VeraFast, with WAHA right before that, and it's just not for me. If someone else loves it, or at least can deal with it, then great!! More power to them & knock yourself out!

Another that's out is PSO (Phone Sex Operator). Adult texting is a different story b/c you don't have to get on the phone & talk to these pervs or get on the cam along with that. You basically sit there & chat like you're in a chat room that's for adults only. That I can deal with. It's getting on the ****PHONE**** to do this stuff that I dispise. Cam as well.

I guess if I had to, I had to. Thankfully I don't and I'm grateful for that. :D

Well, I'm off to do a little bit more around the house. (Cleaning up today!) Then I'm off to do some more coding/unitizing for the #1 company on my list of contracts.

I will try to stop by later to let you know how it's going, but, I'm not going to promise. It seems everytime I promised I would the last few times, I never made it back until either the next day or days later! How embarrassing for me!

So toodloo for now! :D

03/05/2005
03.05.05 (10:15 pm)   [edit]

Hi again! :D Sorry I've been away so long. It's been a looooooooooong week. Lots & lots of work. That's always good news.

I've been hired on by a new coding company. They're name is e-Idetic. They've got TONS of work & I love that. One of my other coding companies, ONSS, used to be like that. Now? Forget it.

TDec has been keeping me busy as well. I finally did get to do some ONSS today. I looked at my log of work I've done for them. If I'd waited another 5 days, it would have been 30 days since my last batch with them. I don't remember if they have a time frame for how long it takes to become marked as inactive b/c you haven't done any work. I don't remember seeing anything in the contract about it. IF they do, I wouldn't be surprised if it is 30 days of not doing any work when you're put on the inactive list &  have to contact them to become re-activated.

However, between TDEC & e-Idetic, I've got plenty of work. Even if there's some time between projects with TDEC (The Data Entry Co), e-Idetic has lots of it. Apex is back to putting some work out & says there'll be more coming out soon .... and it's going to be a project I really like too.

They do have a 'quota' to do bi-weekly .... WHEN there is work out. The last few weeks, almost a month now, there really hasn't been any work. I hope there's going to be tons of this project that I love to do coming out. That way, between them, e-Idetic & TDec, I can make a good chunk of change.

I could use it right now. Not enough saved up, in my opinon, for paying my taxes this year, IF I owe anything this year on taxes. I really didn't make very much last year that I have to report. I didn't get a 1099 from Apex cuz I didn't make $601 & over from the time I got hired until the end of the year, but get this!

I also didn't make that with WAHA & THEY sent me a 1099!! Oh well!! As it stands, on the website that one of the WAHA contractors did for the other contractors and himself,  the line I was on is not only overhired, but has been having the very same system issues that eventually brought about me resigning from there (couldn't deal with the system probs ea. time I would try to work & it being held against me with my Schedule Adherence & Call Volume) as well as people who are supposed to be 'ranked' mid-level & up (when compared to their peers on the same line) not getting any calls.

One person posted on their board that she spent just about 8 hours that she signed up for with less than 6 calls and all came in the last two hours of her total # of shifts (either hour or half hour shifts). Now that sucks fucking royally!! Spend THAT amount of time on there logged in .... not get any calls for most of her shifts. Also NOT get paid for anything EXCEPT the little bit of talk time she got when she FINALLY did get some calls. That's ridiculous! Absolutely ludicrous!

There's two folks already who said they're leaving .... if they haven't already. Another few who aren't far behind. That's sad....Oh! And the company that runs this line, WAHA, blames the contractors. It's THEIR fault .... ???? No! It's WAHA's!! There's LOTS of current, but disgruntled, contractors there.

Oh well! I feel for them. I left .... thankfully it was me who told THEM to shove the job & not the other way around. Got to leave on MY terms. It's a shame too! There's folks there that don't have the coding exper. to get on with the coding companies. Quite a few don't know about TDEC (which may well be a good thing anyway .... even tho they're not hiring right now). Don't want to see what happened to all the work @ ONSS happen @ TDEC.

ONSS overhired. In their mass hiring, they hired folks who never, ever should have been coding. These folks helped significantly in ONSS losing quite a few contracts b/c the work was done wrong & given back to the customer that way. As a result, no work for those of us who CAN and WANT to do legal document coding.

I'm glad e-Idetic is a Telework Recruiting only position. They called Pam looking for people. They didn't want to have one of these mad rushes on their inbox of folks trying to get on with them, especially ones like those who've been fired from ONSS who screwed up so badly and were part of the reason for ONSS losing clients & their projects (not that they knew what happened there, but also, there aren't THAT many legal document coding companies right now who do hire remote legal document coders. I can think of only 7 & I KNOW there's a lot more legal document coding companies than that!

Shoot!! Techlaw, the second company I ever worked for doing legal document coding, doesn't hire remote legal document coders. Although, I kind of think that's good. They've gone thru temp agencies (Techlaw is located in Virginia) to get people. Everytime they need people, they always tell the temp agencies NOT to send people who have worked there before.

I found out because they had gone thru a temp agency I was signed up with in Manassas, VA & got the assignment. However, when I showed up for my shift, they called the temp agency & told them to tell me not to show up the next day. I didn't know until after I got off of work that day, which was 3:30, and got home. The temp agency called & told me what was up.

The Rust Group does legal doc coding but I haven't a clue as to whether or not they hire legal doc coders either. I forgot about them totally. I don't even remember why now I left there. They're located in Reston, VA. In fact, I'm waiting for Google to finish a search on them. Let me go see what Google found. BRB

Hmmm...nothing much that can help right now. Oh well! I really could care less if they do or don't hire remote contractors for their work or not. As it stand, a friend of mine has sent in her resignation to a company I've applied to ages ago & have wanted to get on with. She got on along with another friend but they both turned in their resignations. These two also work with me at TDEC, Apex AND e-Idetic .... oh! ONSS too!

The one I spoke to tonite said she'd refer me. When she told me that, I laughed b/c I had juuuust sent my application & resume to the very same company she's resigning from. This company has a straight data entry position that I've wanted for ages. It's straight data entry like TDEC (vs. calling legal document coding data entry).

I asked her to please do so. I then mentioned that I was seriously considering dropping ONSS, especially if I get on with DionData (the company I was just talking about as doing the data entry similar to what TDEC does). There's just been too much bs & no work at ONSS. They've also promised me for months now that 'when there's a qc opening we will give you the qc test' & several others get the position but it's never offered to me.

I find it soooooooooo ironic b/c one of the qc'ers who got the position about the time I was referred by a fellow ONSS'er who is also qc, this one coder got promoted to qc. Well, guess what? LOL She's been suspended for 30 day & can't code (tho she may be able to now as it's been almost 30 days since that happened). However, I was told by the office that this particular qc'er was an excellent, very knowledgable qc'er. Well, if she's all THAT damn good, then WHY was she suspended? This qc'er says it was for only putting in a certain amount of the names that were to be picked up on a project that had an unlimited name count.

 Yeah! Right! Just for THAT ONE mistake?!?! I do not think sooooooooo!! That may have been the straw that broke the camels back, as the saying goes. However .... it was NOT the ONLY reason. Come on! I'm not stupid. So, don't fucking lie to me! LOL  If that was why she was suspended, then every last coder AND qc'er would have been suspended for mistakes including simple, yet very common ones like typing teh for the. That one happen s quite frequently. To me, it's obvious she's not being totally truthful.

Yes, she came to the board to tell everyone, but still .... I don't believe that that is the story, the WHOLE story & nothing but the complete story. There's definitely more to it.

Well., I'm off to so some stuff I need to do real quick here & then get back into a batch I have to finish. I will be swining by again. I am taking most of tomorrow off from work. Tho, I may well do some work for e-Idetic just to get some $$ earned.

I could use the whole day off tho. It would be nice. I just need the $$ right now. This drought I've been going thru work wise has taken its toll financially & I really need to $$ right now. Also do a little more TDEC tomorrow. I'll have to tell you about the last batch I got to verify .... AAAACK!! It was the batch from hell. I just didn't bother finishing it. Closed it out. Got the stats for what I did & said to myself "That's it. I'm done with doing this for tonite." I just didn't feel like doing the whole dadgum batch from the start but in verify mode. No way!! I was well past needing a break as well as not doing any more of their work for today. :P

Well, toodloo!!

:D
